"Lord, you are my portion and my cup of blessing, you hold my future.”

Hello CommonGood Medical Family,
We have wrapped up another exciting month at CommonGood Medical including successfully hosting our annual event, Hope Rising. We would like to thank all of the people who contributed to its success. Over 200 people attended, many of whom bought raffle tickets or gave extra donations that helped us raise $51,676. The event was made possible by several businesses who sponsored or donated raffle prizes and Christ Fellowship, who hosted us in their beautiful church.
For those of you who were unable to make it, I am sorry to say that you really missed a wonderful show. Dustin Tavella was funny, entertaining, and inspiring. As a staff and board of directors, we had so much fun joining with our community to celebrate God's work and laugh together. Check out some video highlights below.
Clinically, we continue to provide high-quality, comprehensive care with compassion. Each and every prayer, gift, and minute of volunteer service empowers us to share the love of Jesus and positively impact the health of our community. This month, we have re-launched a section in our newsletter sharing a specific patient case. Please check it out as I believe it will be encouraging to see what God is doing. Thank you so very much. It is a privilege to serve with you. God bless. Stephen Twyman, MD, MPH CEO/Founder |

| A CommonGood Medical Patient Story

Emma walked into our clinic seven years ago, looking for someone to help her and her family whatever variety of medical concerns. Thankfully, at the time, we were able to provide assistance and care for all of their needs. Shortly after establishing care, though, Emma developed an issue with excessive bleeding. This was not inconvenient bleeding. This was a dangerous level of bleeding that led to frequent ER visits and hospitalizations for blood transfusions and IV iron. At times, she was unable to work or take care of her family due to fatigue.
Unfortunately for Emma, despite the severity of her issue, the disability it caused her, and the fact that a surgical solution existed, her problem was never emergent enough to garner immediate surgical intervention in the hospital. As a result, this has been a long and emotional journey. Emma saw multiple specialty providers and was even scheduled for surgery a few times, only to see it fall through at the last minute. With each failed attempt, our staff and volunteers have committed to continue searching for solutions for Emma.
But the Lord is faithful. Emma's frustrations have finally ended. I am happy to report that after hundreds of hours of effort and pain, she has finally received the surgery necessary to stop her bleeding!
This story reminds me of the woman with the issue of blood from Luke 8:43-48. Both Emma and the woman in the Bible story, had an issue that they could not solve. Both women desperately sought help from medicine and from Jesus. And both women were eventually healed. But which instance did Jesus intervene? Both. Jesus was at work then and is at work now through the obedience and sacrifice of his people. In the gospel of Luke, Jesus used a miraculous transfer of power to heal. Today, Jesus used a dedicated team of men and women working tirelessly to love their neighbor.
Your donations, volunteer time, and prayers are what God used to make this miracle happen; and we all say thank you so very much. Emma's ongoing care and surgery were made possible by support from our patient assistance funds. To support this patient's and other patients' care, click here to make an impact |
